As the title of this article from 2013 suggests, it is about defining terms and outlining the parameters of a field/movement that got its name, if not its start, in 2010 on twitter. Important to these authors is maintaining the title of “academic” and the “life of the mind” lifestyle as part of the careers that this movement looks for. Three years since this particular article was published, things continue to change, but this is an interesting and informational read.
